I don’t understand, from your explanations, why it would report “root”. But it doesn’t seem to matter, except for blame assignment in logs of committed transactions from my LWM session. FWIW, a shell running in an external terminal app shows this, which is correct: ➜ ~ logname davidmcclain ➜ ~ hostname Aquila.local ➜ ~ > On May 4, 2026, at 11:50, Tim Bradshaw (as tfb at cley dot com) <[email protected]> wrote: > > try 'id' in various combinations which will tell you who you really are > >> On 4 May 2026, at 17:25, David McClain (as dbm at refined-audiometrics dot com) <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> On LWM 8.1.2 64-bit >> >> (sys:call-system-showing-output “logname”) >> => >> ; logname >> ; root >> 0 >> >> ;; ————————— >> ;; Similarly, if you fire up the Shell in LW environment: >> >> projects/Lispworks % logname >> logname >> root >> >> ;; ——————————————— >> >> So, my question relates to “root” being returned, even though I am logged in under my own personal account. >> >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Lisp Hug - the mailing list for LispWorks users >> [email protected] >> http://www.lispworks.com/support/lisp-hug.html > > _______________________________________________ > Lisp Hug - the mailing list for LispWorks users > [email protected] > http://www.lispworks.com/support/lisp-hug.html
