I did some more reading today on what the Enlightenment folks are up to
and their EFL (Enlightenment Foundation Library) seems to have good potential.
They have full X support in their Ecore which wraps X, OpenGL, Framebuffers,
and so on. Not to mention that the enlightenment code has included transparency
and alpha-blending almost from its inception (back in 2000 it was already there).
The intrinisic imaging library imlib was the basis of Gtk+ before it changed over
to gdk_pixbuf. Now the enlightenment team has totally rewritten imlib as imlib2
and promises that it is the fastest imaging library around, beating anything offered 
for use in Gtk+ or qt as examples.

Another selling point is that I see they are thinking about adding a qt backend in EFL.

The code is already ported across Linux, Solaris, SGI, FreeBSD, etc.

Sure it's possible from Lush to use external widget toolkits, but why bother?
It's great to have a dynamic and RAD GUI such as Ogre and I think it would much
better serve the cause of Lush to extend Ogre than just to interface to a different
set of GUI widgets.
