There is a README in the download directory. Let me know
if that's too terse and I'll dig in the archive logs for
some more details.

Sure. I think would be able to help with that to some
extent, by extracting patches from the archive. I am
using gnu arch, by the way. If you are willing to
make yourself familiar with it, then you may go through
the archive yourself and pick what you want.
The more recent a patch the more PSU Lush dependencies
you'll find, though. That might make back porting tedious.
