Don't know.  Beat up the autconf guys to make it work? :-)

Probably not since it doesn't come with g77 but does come with gcc.
Could just be an error in autoconf.  Or perhaps the autoconf from OS X
is too old.  I think it's 2.52 and we really need 2.58 or later....
