Dr. Koerber: Thanks.  Your suggestions worked.  It seems that the
Matlisp homepage at sourceforge is out of date --- it suggests just
unpacking and then typing 'make cmu', which does not work.  But it
seems to be OK now.  The sourceforge webpage should probably be
updated...

Tunc: Yes, I did download the latest CVS version today.  Not 1.0b.

Anyways, thanks much.  I'm looking forward to playing with this
package.  If anyone has any nice programs they've written using this
(that they're willing to share of course), I'd love to take a look,
just to get a better feel for it.
