Extending AllegroServe's proxy abilities

Hi!

I'm interested in using AllegroServe as a proxy and at the same time I
want to "sniff" the traffic (both directions) going through it
programmatically.

My questions:

1. How would I do this with the current AllegroServe?

2. I think it would be a very useful addition to AllegroServe if there
   was a documented API for something like this.  What do others
   think?  If someone points me in the right direction I might try to
   produce a patch.
