Term question

Hi!

I have allegro communicating with another process through TCP/IP. The
other process gets user input from a terminal window. It seems that
allegro does not understand the backspace character and interprets
some characters as control characters. Any ideas on how to fix that? 
I'm sure it's a terminal problem but it only  happens in the 
allegro process (and only with the communication from this other
process) so I thought I'll ask here as well. This behavior happens 
on Redhat 6.2.
