Joseph is just right. Building your own interpreter as suggested is the way
to go.

One advice (for those that don't already know it), Bigloo does not
include a readline wrapper but you don't really need it. If you install
rlwrap on your machine, you can build your own interpreter and the spawn
it with something such as "rlwrap myrepl".  Usually, this works just
fine.
