Can't figure out how to build from source on Windows

I've been trying to get into Chicken scheme, and I've been trying to build 6.0/master from source, but I keep getting into weird issues with the configure script, and I could never figure out how to setup the bootstrap build as well.

Are there other windows users who have built Chicken from source? I'd love some tips!
