How to get the MAC address?

I am comparing several programming languages to see if they can be used for
low-level programming.
As an example, I am looking into how to get the MAC address of an Ethernet
adapter, preferably using Linux's ioctl.

How do I get the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter in Gauche? Also, is
there a way to call ioctl?
