Assuming we go ahead with this (pending input from a few other
Schematicians):

I would put someone else down as one of the other contacts
(administrative?), just on principle, so that someone other than me has the
ability to deal with it.  It should probably be someone familiar with DNS
issues - any volunteers?

One other point: most people use their hosting provider or ISP to host their
primary DNS, assuming they don't run their own DNS servers.  I'm not
currently doing that for my own domains, because I found that using an
independent DNS host gave much greater flexibility when moving between
providers, or doing things with multiple providers.  I currently use
EasyDNS.com - they have good web-based management for the domain records, so
making changes such as adding CNAMEs is quick and easy, with no need to deal
with support staff.  However, EasyDNS charges $35/year for the service,
which includes the domain registration plus the DNS hosting & management.
Registrations have to go through a particular registrar, OpenSRS.

For the convenience, flexibility and reliability it gives, I'd still pick
EasyDNS for this new domain, and I'll gladly pay the extra $23 or so over
the basic registration fee.  However, I'm open to alternatives, e.g. if
anyone has the ability to host DNS records themselves or has a spare
allowance with a provider.  My preference is for a system which allows the
DNS records to be edited directly, though, rather than having to go through
provider support.
