I didn't make my point clearly.  All I was saying was that there's precedent
for having a redirect to a name that people wouldn't necessarily enter
directly.  So, just for example, other names might redirect to
plt.schemewiki.org, even though people might not use that name as the
primary way they remember the site.

Also, my reason for preferring shorter names is not so much typing effort,
as whether the name will be easily remembered by casual users, who might not
have bothered to bookmark it.  That's the real reason that short and
memorable names like google.com, yahoo.com, slashdot.org etc. are desirable.
