I've added an alternative fourth clause to the CopyRight page, but it's not
yet complete. It refers to a separate, yet-to-be-defined
CompilationCopyright, which is intended to address the question which David
raised ("which compilation are you reserving the exclusive right to?"), as
well as to (attempt to) delineate more clearly between the individual
Cookbook entries, and what constitutes the compilation.

Actually writing that definition in something approaching legalese would
keep me up past my bedtime. My basic idea here is as mentioned in an
earlier post, which could be summarized as follows:

"Material submitted to the Cookbook site is organized into a compilation,
based on classification information which is associated with each submitted
entry. This classification information is stored in a form, named
CookbookForm, associated with each topic, and consists of the contents of
the fields Topic Type, Parent Topic, and Topic Order. The
SchematicsEditorsGroup reserves the right to any compilation of the Cookbook
entries which is based on, or makes use of, this classification
information."

I think this could be made into a definition which clearly identifies and
distinguishes the (proposed) protected compilation(s) from the submitted
free content, but it probably needs some work (not to mention eventual
review by a competent lawyer).

* * *

One other, unrelated thing: should we include a reminder that submitted
content should be unencumbered by other copyright, i.e. that the contributor
must have the right to submit it? That may not be legally necessary, but I
think it might be a useful reminder.

Yes, my brain guacamole levels are getting dangerously high...
