On a quick scan, there don't seem to be any really solid automated solutions
for TWiki currently - the BlackListPlugin might help, and the nofollow
attribute is probably worth implementing in some form (perhaps just in the
Main web).  Another possibility is the use of captchas, although I hope it
doesn't come to that.

However, I have a suggestion: how about requiring new signups to answer a
simple Scheme-related question?  Not designed to test proficiency, but just
awareness of Scheme.  For example:

"Enter one of the words obscured by x's in any of the following standard
(R5RS) Scheme identifiers:

syntax-xxxxx
inexact->xxxxx
call-with-current-xxxxxxxxxxxx"
