Quite a battle of FUD we've got going here.  In that corner, we have 
irrelevant license issues and dark mutterings about data loss; in the 
other corner, we have the utter failure of open source projects due to 
erroneous dependence on distributed version control systems.  The very 
future of Schematics hangs in the balance, and only a Time Lord can save 
us now!  Where is the Doctor when we need him?!
