Yes.  What is the "other thing"?

Ok, my point here is that academic publishers (i.e.
the university presses) don't even attempt to sell
books to most bookstores.  If after, say, a year the
collaborative online Scheme Cookbook has become a
weighty tome and want to try to find a publisher to
take it to the mass market (and I only used O'Reilly
as an exemplar; APress or AW would do just as well (or
better!)) we need to have a licence the publisher will
accept and a publisher who will get it into
bookstores.  It appears most publishers are accepting
fairly liberal licences these days so it probably
won't be a problem.
