Please, note: I'm not sure whether or not this is what you are after: What I got from your question is a way of checking out the coding, (though, me myself use C-x C-e to eval the last sexp) there is a tool[1] in the D.Touretzky's book called *dtrace.generic* Below the link & a sample of its performing[2].
