Simple Instructions/packages for Installing SBCL/Emacs/Slime ???

Hello to the SBCL maintainers and community!

Hello SBCL Helpers,

First I would like to thank all of you who have kept SBCL alive and up to
date in recent years, and who have ported it to new machine architectures
and OS releases.

I'm a Professor Emeritus of CS at Carnegie Mellon University.  That means
that I'm formally retired, but still working on AI research -- mostly
focused on symbolic AI, as opposed to the currently-popular wave of
statistical/numerical Deep Learning and Large Language Models.

I was one of the core designers of the Common Lisp language back in the
1980s (one of the "Gang of Five").  My research group at Carnegie Mellon
produced the CMU Common Lisp implementation from which the open-source
CMUCL and SBCL implementations are descended.  From about 1990 on, I've
been mostly a user of Common Lisp, and not involved in the ongoing
open-source development of CL implementations.  So I'm not up to date on
what the SBCL community has been up to -- I'm just happy to be able to use
SBCL for my own AI research.

For some years I've been working on a symbolic knowledge-base system called
Scone, which is implemented in SBCL.  I've been working on a book on Scone
and "Knowledge-Based AI".  When the book is released I want people to be
able to experiment with the open-source Scone code with as little hassle as
possible.

I expect that most of the user community will be running on Mac with Apple
silicon (ARM64) and on Windows machines running on the latest Intel chips.
I think that the number of Linux users (and people comfortable with Linux
shell hackery) will be much smaller.

So as part of the Scone release, I would like to provide a clear,
uncomplicated set of instructions for setting up an up-to-date
Emacs/Slime/SBCL environment on current MacOS systems, and a separate
script for setting this up on Windows.  The "Getting Started" page on SBCL
SourceForge is more complicated than necessary for this task, and contains
some Linux shell hackery that may be intimidating.   If necessary, I can
play around with some installations and produce these scripts -- or, at
least, the one for MacOS -- but it would save me time if someone already
has done this.  Any help would be appreciated -- and probably would be
useful to others as well.

(In recent years I have just relied on the Portacle package for easy
installation of an Emacs/Slime/SBCL environment.  Sadly, Portacle is no
longer being maintained, and the old versions are now quite out of date --
no version with recent Apple Silicon components, for example.)
