Something that you might want to do is post your query at
the newsgroup comp.lang.lisp because it is of general
interest beyond SBCL users.

Beyond installing Emacs/Slime/SBCL, you might also want your
version of L-in-a-Box to include a baseline SBCL
configuration file, a baseline Emacs initialization file
that loads Slime and sets an base-line configuration of
Slime features (such as making it possible to look up
information about Common Lisp in the Hyperspec), possibly
include Quicklisp at some point so that installing any of
the thousands of Common Lisp libraries is easily done, and
more that I am not thinking of at this point.
