I am not very familiar with Windows, being a French open source developer on
Linux. I actually never coded on Windows, and used it only for bureaucratic
activities.

BTW I am coding a GPL licensed inference engine named RefPerSys. In C++; it has
lots of features in common with SBCL but don't use SBCL or its runtime.

(I am even seeking partnership like HorizonEurope on it).

Indeed the notion of directory is very different on Windows and on Linux. The
device name is strange (and AFAIK not immediately visible if using WSL on
Windows to run SBCL).
