Re: My messages are not showing up

Ok, the problem is kind of interesting. Pat, some time ago
Mail-Archive got a message with mysterious headers that made it think
that [email protected] was a mailing list instead of a
person.  Since then, everything that bears [email protected]
in the headers along with the actual listname trips our crosspost
detector.  Cross-posted messages, where both lists are archived at
Mail-Archive, are treated specially. They are looked at very
carefully, and they are processed very much out of order - it's a
little complicated to explain but they pretty much get lower priority
than everything else.

So in fact, the missing messages are in Mail-Archive's inbox and are
being processed ever so slowly. While the service in general has only
a few hours latency right now, it is not unusual for crossposted
messages to lag many days especially if there are a lot of them for
the same archive.

The good news is this is doubly fixable. First, I'll manually tell the
system that there's no mailing list called [email protected]
Second, because much of today's mail bears RFC2369 headers (yay!),
list ambiguation is a lot easier than it used to be. I will adjust our
sorting routine to take more advantage of those headers, which will
prevent this particular latency problem from ever happening again.

Let me know if you have any questions. These changes will hopefully be
online tomorrow evening, might be a little later if I get busy. Moral
of story: (1) problem reports are appreciated, these changes will help
everyone by reducing overall system latency (2) try not to send mail
with funky headers. In particular, don't CC: or BCC: or bounce private
mail to Mail-Archive's address.  The service is for list email only.
