Not always, but it's fine to limit the scope. Clients may provide a
way to search multiple folders by issuing multiple search commands.

Regarding time limits: I must admit it's a feature I often miss, but I
don't really know if it would be so useful that it's worth the effort
and complexity. Leaving it out is also fine for me.
