On the contrary, I am relieved because (a) My confidence in the "system" is
not shaken and (b) I am not frustrated that after 2 days of struggle, I find
on Internet "its a known glitch" - I prefer it was due to my oversight. :-)

If you look at the above environment variables, you will see that to_Mail is
not the same as to_eMail.
I also see that you did not tell Blat what to send. Did you want to send a
file as the message body, or did you intend to key in the message manually?
What happened is that without something to send, Blat is waiting patiently
for you to type in your message. That is why it appears to hang, because
Blat is waiting on you.
