Sending message via Blat to an address with a period before the @

I have a program that uses Blat to send messages. It works flawlessly except for addresses with a period before the @  (example: [email protected])  The return code is 0, but no emails are sent. Has anyone seen this before?  Any ideas how to get around this.  Your help is appreciated.
