Sending messages to cell phones, like to pagers, depends on which service
provider you are sending _to_. For example, there is a video on AT&T
(https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1061254) that says
to send emails to user's [email protected]. For example, if you
wanted to send an email (text message) to a user's cell phone of
111-555-1212, you would set the "To:" email address as
[email protected].

If you want to send pictures to their cell phones, another link at AT&T
(https://forums.att.com/t5/Data-Messaging-Features-Internet/how-to-send-text-message-to-Cell-phone-via-computer/td-p/1816853)
shows you would send to the user's [email protected] instead.

For Verizon phones, you would use @vtext.com as their domain portion of the
email address.

T-Mobile phones would need @tmomail.net as the domain portion.

For a bigger list of carriers and their SMS gateways, I found this
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/email-to-sms/.
