<p><p><span>Having issues in actually configuring SMTP parameters for several common email systems.</span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>For an Earthlink account, using SMTPAUTH.EARTLINK.Net and my account username/pw I can send a message if the port used is 587. Using 465 times out and get not a socket message.</span></p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>For an AOL account using SMTP.AOL.COM neither 587 or 465 work. Using 465 I get a timeout but using 587 it looks like the message is accepted but there is a return error 450 saying that there is an unknown mailbox associated with the user name and does not like sender name. I also have issues with GMAIL and setting up STUNNEL params. That may be addressed separately.</span></
p><p><span><br></span></p><p><span>Any clues. What is also interesting is that I have an Excel application with VBA SMTP calls to send email and my AOL setup for that routine uses 465 as the port number and same username and password strings and AOL accepts the connect via this email client so not sure why BLAT as the client is not getting the same response to being sent the same information.</span></p></p>
