Bluemail and Souplate

Here's a tip for those who use Bluemail with the SOUP client, SOUPlate.

I run batch files to extract new posts and replies from archives and upload 
them and then download new messages and zip them up. Sometimes, I'd only 
want to upload replies, but would have to wait until the download had finished.

What I've done is to create an INI file and an NGP file that only uploads. 
The NGP file which normally contains the newsgroups listings that you are 
subscribed to is empty. The INI file contains the normal info that you use 
when connecting to a particular server.

I call the files SEND.INI and SEND.NGP. When I run a batch file called 
SEND.BAT, all Souplate does is to log into the news server and uploads new 
replies. It doesn't know about subscribed groups because the NGP file is 
empty. So, no new messages are downloaded at that time.

All this requires me to briefly exit Bluemail. What would be handy is an 
option in Bluemail that closes any open reply packets then executes a batch 
file, in this case, one that will extract the reply messages to the 
appropriate directory then tell Souplate, or other client to upload them.

Something for the "I'll think about it" list, perhaps...

Ingo has put a good package together. I run Bluemail and Souplate in 
conjunction with a filtering program called Newsproxy. It all works well 
together.

Only issue is Windows XP. When I eventually upgrade to it, will DOS batch 
files still run from Windows shortcuts as they do for me now in Windows 98SE?
