Let's rather use cksum. While it only uses CRC32, that should be
sufficient, and it has a standardized output format:

"%u %d %s\n", <checksum>, <size in octets>, <filename>

md5(1) is FreeBSD specific. Sun-supported Solaris versions have neither
md5 nor md5sum but they do have cksum.
