Greetings and welcome.  I don't recall seeing your name before.  Also,
mailman didn't recognize your email address so I had to tell it to
accept your posting.  Are you subscribed to the list?

In any case, FWIW, on my Mandriva 2006.0 system I've just run:

  make -s clean && ./configure && make check

and don't see the problem you report.  Time will tell if anyone else
has the problem or can duplicate it.
