What large number of dependencies? Most of the dependencies should already  
be installed by default on most platforms: ncurses, libxml2, gnutls or  
openssl, openldap, libidn, aspell/pspell, gamin/fam. The only unusual  
dependencies are courier-unicode, and courier-sox which is completely  
optional.
