I dont know how many people actually read this list,
but I have an update.
I know I havent released an update for EPS in quite some time.
Ive been so busy with eFilter that I havent had time. Here's
the update:
EPS v1.0 (when released), will have the following changes:
New streaming code:
16 times faster than the old code - A 10 meg email
with the current code is processed in about 8 seconds
on my box. With the new code, it is processed in
about half a second.
No more pesky line lengths - Even though RFCs specify
maximum line values, MTAs dont restrict this, and
Joe Schmoe doesnt know about this, and thus will
enter extremely long header lines, etc. The new
code has dynamic handling of line lengths, with
fewer allocations, and buffers that grow as needed.
Plenty of bug fixes. Having eFilter running on huge
email systems has definately helped out a lot in finding
any bugs, or needed features. A few memory leaks were
fixed too. Yay for memory leaks!
Probably will get time to add in BASE64 encoding and decoding
on the fly. This is pretty damned important IMO.
That's it for now!
