No, I didn't use it previously. (Hence, I have some experience with sa-exim, but not using the patch.) As I indicated, however, for this Linux system, I *did* patch exim, and am having the problem I described. The patch appeared to work correctly. I used patch -p1 < whatever-the-patchfilename-was and saw a bunch of messages that various hunks had been patched successfully...none indicating errors. exim subsequently compiled without errors.
