"ps aux | grep exim" says  "Debian-+ 1980041  0.0  0.0  30108 20716 ?        S    13:30   0:00 /usr/sbin/exim4 -bd -q30m -d" so I'd think I got that one covered.

Also, there now seems to be quite a lot of extra messages from Exim appearing in /var/log/syslog that I don't think were there before. So I do believe this part to be working.
