I'm using "ipv4_prefer" in the dnslookup driver; also "ipv4_only".

I had assumed both to exist for exactly the kind of reasons you describe.

But neither is likely to be a good solution within OVH as in my experinece 
the IPv4 address will also have a bad reputation from neighbours in the 
same ASN.
