I DID install it from the ports. And like I have mentioned before, did everything to the book except for the uid and gid. As for the paths, they are owned by the respective uid/gid -- so technically there should be no problem at all. I strongly believe that it is not only you, but many many others are using the system without any flaw. Well, there are a few unfortunate ones like me who faces the trouble, and hence the mailing list. Any other suggestion? Thanks and merry christmas to you all.
