problem resolved. Looks like I missed one CHANGE parameter in the
configure file -- I looked at the hostname bit only, not the IP bit, so
the messages were being rejected by the server. Once it started
delivering the mails, the folders / directories were created automatically.

Thanks to everyone for the excellent support

Now I will try the MailMan bit -- hoping that will go flawless as well.
