It wouldn't be *too* hard to grep through the output of a
'gpg --version', but even if you tell it "1.2.4 prefers options,
1.2.5 wants gpg.conf", you *still* lose if they're using 1.2.5 but
haven't renamed the file (and in fact, lose bigger than currently).

I'm tempted to not do anything with the code until such time as
the GnuPG people ship a release that refuses to deal at all with
the file being called "options".....
