Feel free to experiment with the code in exwin.tcl.
It is starting to get messy supporting the different options.
I'd be tempted to start over if you want to do something
substantially different. I suggest trying Tk 8.4 panewidget
while you are at it. And grid. Doing everything with pack
and nested frames is somewhat heroic.

I did the simplest thing possible to get key bindings to work at all.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are unintended conflicts.
