exmh oddities with tcl/tk 8.5?

i've just found out that with tk 8.5 the debug log no longer works: 
only messages generated during application startup are shown, 
no further updates to the log window happen.

also the font sizes are completely off, way too large.

neither problem is present with tcl/tk 8.4.

has anybody seen other problems with 8.5?
