While you should be sheepish, the rude tone of my response was not
appropriate. I have answered the same question before and had started to
wonder if anyone either rtfm or just looked in the obvious place. 

The reality is that they don't and, too often, I don't, either. It's
sometimes just too easy to ask for help and, in the grand scheme of
things, is probably more efficient in the short term for the person
making the query.

People adapt to what works and asking first and studying second
generally works. 

I should either have answered politely or not at all.

In any case, I'm glad your problem is resolved.
