Regrettably but inevitably secretaries here are starting to use this format so I get more and more of these. Openoffice does not open them directly, but you can get a converter here: http://katana.oooninja.com/w/odf-converter-integrator The rpm there automatically also updates the etc/mailcap, so that (quoting from their webpage) "when you click on a .docx/.xlsx/.pptx file on a web page, in an email attachment, or your desktop, odf-converter-integrator converts the .docx/.xlsx/ .pptx to an .odt/.ods/ .odp, and then automatically opens the new document in OpenOffice.org, StarOffice, Abiword, KWord, Gnumeric, Microsoft Office 2003, or whatever is your default ODF editor." A complication with exmh is that odf-converter-integrator detects file type only from the extension. When exmh runs it on an attachment, it first saves the file with a different extension (.exmh). I get round this by first doing a Save/Extract Attacments, but wondered whether someone here has a cleverer solution. -- rick baartman TRIUMF 4004 Wesbrook Mall Vancouver, BC V6T2A3
