"modern" colorization

Does know the resources for setting just the message display and ftoc
background colors??

I'd like to set the message display background to white and hack the
ftoc background to white alternating with light gray (e.g. ala GTK+.) 
I think that would go a REALLY long way twords making Exmh look modern.
