glimpse on FreeBSD

Hi

I've recently installed EXMH 2.7.2 and Glimpse from FreeBSD ports, but
while the documentation talks about clicking Search... all messages in
the current folder (glimpse) in order to do the initial indexing, when
I actually try it I just get the error message "Glimpse not
initialized". I looked in the archives and saw something about glimpse
-V returning 1 instead of 0 and causing that problem, but when I run
"glimpse -V; echo $?" I see 0.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
