Thus said Chris Siebenmann on Fri, 27 Sep 2013 10:08:30 -0400: > You've been bitten by Ubuntu's switch from a version of TCL/TK that's > compiled to use old X XLFD fonts to a version that's compiled to use > new XFT fonts. The simplest and fastest fix is to edit the 'exmh' > script to be run by /usr/bin/wish8.4; your fonts should then come back > (assuming that your general X font configuration is intact). I suspect that I also ran into this (although I was not using Ubuntu, so perhaps the cause was not the same). I changed Exmh to use tclsh8.4 and the fonts were no longer unbearable. To be fair, there were some fonts I did like with tclsh8.5 but they were either too large or they rendered in a fuzzy manner: http://w.bradfords.org:81/users/andy/tk8.5.png vs http://w.bradfords.org:81/users/andy/tk8.4.png Andy -- TAI64 timestamp: 4000000052459898
