Key command bindings - Reference to selected message(s)

Hi,

I would like to define a new key command binding, which would run an
external program, but it seems I cannot fiind a documented way how to
refer to the current message?

Say I want to bind the key X to run the external command FOO with the
file name(s) of the currently selected message(s) as argument(s).

Is there a way to do that?
