Coloring messages in the scanlist

Hi,

I recently came across a suggested color code to prioritize email. I 
was wondering whether it is possible to implement this in exmh. Eg.
I would like to attach a level from 1 to 4 to each email and have the
color in the message list stand out as a function of this.

Technically this seems feasible, as eg curren message, moved message,
deleted message and unseen message already have different colors/
highlights. Can something similar be implemented (in addition) to 
implement user color preferences? And of so, how would I go about it?
