It is.  But that's exactly what we normally recommend, and what the OP said he
does *not* want to do -- he said he wants his CGI script to invoke ezmlm-sub
directly (like the list admin doing it manually), bypassing all of the
subscription control mechanisms.

And that's not a good idea.
