I think you're missing the probably problem. - Gmail correctly tells fetchmail there are five messages when it asks over POP3 or IMAP. - Gmail passes each of those five to fetchmail as it asks for them. - fetchmail has probably been told to store all five in a single mbox file, of which there are several various formats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbox - Whatever is reading the mbox file, e.g. mail(1), is not seeing five emails and instead is treating some emails as part of an earlier one. - Examining the mbox file and comparing it against the documented format and the emails mail(1) presents might help spot the cause. -- Cheers, Ralph.
