email plus addressing?

Experimenting today with plus addressing on email.

What I found is that fetchmail issues a warning that the recipient 
address+test doesn't match any local name (because it doesn't!). 
Everything still works because fetchmail passes the email off to 
sendmail which understands to strip off the plus addressing.

Should fetchmail support plus addressing without issuing a warning?
