I agree that, as users. we should do what we can to stay away of 
OAuth-based providers, either: (a) using other mechanisms like "app 
passwords" if available (may work both with fetchmail and mail clients); 
(b) rerouting mail from OAuth-based providers to fetchmail-friendly IMAP 
providers (or abandoning OAuth-based providers); (c) running one's owm 
e-mail host on a VPS (I haven't yet tried that).
